Cool Kids Tree Planting 2004
National Tree Week saw the beginning of the tree planting paid for by donations made through this website. Why not send in your donations so we can plant more trees in 2005.
| The first Cool Kids trees of this season were planted at Rockingham Junior & Infants School on 25th November. They planted a 130 metre long hedgerow around the school perimeter and a small copse of trees. All the school got involved in the planting, but the work was finished off by the After School Gardening Club - in the dark! | ![]() |

High Greave Infants School planted 30 metres of hedgerow along one of the school fences and they also planted 6 trees on the other side of the fence. All the kids got involved in the planting and were fascinated by the "wriggly worms" they found in the soil. |
| Jim Staveley, from Rotherham Council's Green Spaces Unit, organised the events and made sure that a good range of native species trees and shrubs were planted, such as Field Maple, Wild Cherry, Rowan, Silver Birch and Small Leaved Lime for the trees and Hawthorn, Blackthorn, Guelder Rose, Hazel, Dog Rose, and Field Maple in the hedgerows. Jim does actually do quite a lot of work and doesn't JUST stand around watching everybody else work like these photos show - honest! | ![]() |
